The Weekly Podcast: Indigenous People’s Day rally and an explanation of the Women’s Center changes
October 16, 2016
The Weekly is The Daily’s weekly news podcast.
On Monday, Evanston celebrated Indigenous People’s Day, formerly known as Columbus Day. Students and community members gathered on campus for the holiday, but also protested in solidarity with the people in Standing Rock, North Dakota, who are against the Dakota Access Pipeline.
The Office of the Provost made changes to the Women’s Center earlier this year. Claire Fahey sits down with The Daily’s Yvonne Kim, who has been following the story, to discuss the changes and why they were made.
For our final story, Davis Rich profiles Nathaniel Davis of Wicked Good ‘Wiches, Evanston’s first standalone food truck.
Claire Fahey, Nicole Fallert, Shane McKeon, Corey Mueller, Davis Rich and Rachel Silverstein from The Daily and Alex Lederman from WNUR News contributed to this podcast.
