Senior infielder Antonio Freschet has been suspended indefinitely, coach Spencer Allen said Tuesday.
Freschet received a similar suspension to junior pitcher Joe Schindler, who Allen said was also suspended indefinitely Sunday.
The infielder was suspended for violating team rules, Allen said at Tuesday’s media availability. Allen declined to comment on the exact reasons for the suspensions but said both Schindler and Freschet will not be traveling with the team.
Schindler started Northwestern’s opening game, throwing five shutout innings and striking out six. Freschet has a .364 batting average through 3 games with 2 RBIs.
The Wildcats next participate in the Snowbird Classic this weekend after their midweek matchup against Illinois-Chicago was postponed due to inclement weather.
