An Evanston man was sentenced to 13 years in prison Thursday for sexually assaulting a child, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office announced.
Kane County Circuit Judge James Hallock sentenced Baraka A. Olla, who was found guilty of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse on Sep. 2.
The 41-year-old Evanston resident was convicted of sexually abusing and assaulting a child younger than 13 between summer 2011 and early 2014 at an Elgin, Illinois, residence, according to a statement from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. Ten years of the 13-year sentence are for the assault count and three years for the abuse.
In addition to the sentence, Olla, of the 1300 block of Washington Street, must register for life as a sex offender as mandated by the Illinois’ Sex Offender Registration Act.
