QB Clayton Thorson pulled for Zack Oliver

After a shaky start that saw him complete just seven of 16 pass attempts and toss an interception, redshirt freshman quarterback Clayton Thorson was benched in favor of senior Zack Oliver late in the third quarter of Northwestern’s game against Purdue with the score tied at 14.
Thorson started the game after missing the end of the Penn State contest with a lower body injury, but looked uncomfortable in the pocket for much of Saturday’s game and often scrambled away from pressure too early. He was benched immediately following his interception.
