A 45-year-old Evanston resident was killed Sunday morning in a car accident, Evanston police said.

Lamart Bailey was a passenger in a car in the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue when the car struck multiple parked cars on both sides of the street, causing the car he was in to roll over, police said. Bailey was extracted from the car and transported to Evanston Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The crash occurred around 2:20 a.m.

The driver of the car, a 42-year-old Evanston resident, was also transported to the hospital. She remains in serious, but stable condition.

Officials are investigating the cause of the crash. Police said it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.

Bailey was a U.S. Army Veteran.
