A group of Evanston politicians including former mayors Lorraine Morton and Jay Lytle have endorsed Edward Tivador in the 1st Ward aldermanic race, his campaign announced this morning.
The 1st Ward challenger, who is running against Ald. Judy Fiske, also received endorsements from Ald. Coleen Burrus (9th), and former Ald. Cheryl Wolin (1st), whom Fiske beat in the 2009 election, as well as former Ald. Ned Lauterbach (3rd).
Burrus, who is also Northwestern’s corporate relations director, said in a news release Tivador’s experience in managing public sector budgets will prove valuable to the city council. City council members rarely break ranks to oppose a colleague’s re-election, and Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl endorsed Fiske last week.
