Marcus McShepard (5-11, 180) CB
McShepard got a late offer from NU but verbally committed pretty quickly upon receiving the scholarship. He’s very raw at the cornerback position and is seen more as a nickel back than an outside corner. He has a lot of upside but needs some coaching. He has great straight-line speed that will help him catch up to receivers if he gets beat. He reportedly ran in the low 4.4’s over the summer on a fractured ankle. He’s going to need to be a little bit more physical off the line of scrimmage in order to be more effective in coverage. McShepard also has some value in the return game and could be used there in a year or two. Unless he shows a lot of improvement in training camp, McShepard could be heading towards a redshirt year.
