Welcome back, Wildcats! My name is Celia Skaggs and I’m here to provide a rundown of the local music scene in my new blog, Wildcat Tracks. For those interested in knowing a little more about me, I’m a Weinberg senior from Texas who enjoys watching NBC comedies, making grilled cheese and looking up pictures of corgis on Google. This summer, I interned at KXT 91.7, a triple-A format station in North Texas. My internship experience opened my eyes to the Dallas music scene for the first time, and I’m hoping to share some of what I’ve learned in this blog. If you’re looking to pump up your pregame or trying to find the most comforting songs to get you through midterms, I’m here. I’ll be providing playlists throughout the quarter to get you ready for all the milestones of the academic year.
The Chicago music scene can also be intimidating, so I’ll be posting about new artists, upcoming concerts and music venues to make the downtown scene more accessible to us here in Evanston. But most importantly, I want to use this blog to delve into the music culture that is already thriving right here on campus. I’m going to put the spotlight on student bands and campus concerts, in addition to finding out what music makes Northwestern students tick. I hope you’ll join me along the way as I explore everything the Northwestern and Chicago music scenes have to offer.
