Chicago man arrested at Levy Center
A 46-year-old Chicago resident was arrested Tuesday at the Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave., after he refused to leave the premises.
Officers from the Evanston Police Department responded to the senior center after receiving a criminal trespass call, EPD spokesman Cmdr. Tom Guenther said.
“They recognized him from past encounters, which were very unfavorable,” Guenther said. “In those past encounters he was told not to return to the facility.
The man was charged with criminal trespass to state-supported land and will appear in court March 16.
Cash stolen from Brown Avenue home
Someone stole about $200 from a residence in the 200 block of Brown Avenue on Tuesday, Guenther said.
The cash was taken from a file cabinet in a rear bedroom between 1 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.
The cabinet had been pried open, and there were no signs of forced entry into the home, Guenther said.
The resident also told police he saw a man enter his van late Monday night. Officers checked the burgundy Ford vehicle and found no signs of forced entry, Guenther said.
