Stolen vehicle recovered near Howard Street
A 25-year-old Chicago resident was charged Monday with possession of a stolen vehicle after Evanston Police Department officers saw him driving a stolen car near Howard Street.
Officers patrolling Howard Street noticed the 1993 green Honda and determined it was stolen after running its plates through their database. They pulled over the vehicle and took the driver into custody “without incident,” EPD spokesman Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.
Parrott said the driver did give a statement to police but “did not make any admission regarding the actual original theft of the vehicle.”
The car was reported stolen Friday from the 4500 block of S. Western Avenue, several blocks away from the Western stop on the CTA Orange Line.
Two cell phones stolen during party
Someone stole two cell phones during a party in the 100 block of Ashland Avenue on Sunday.
The phones went missing some time between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. while partygoers watched the NFL conference championship games, Parrott said.
Police believe someone who was invited to the party stole the Samsung Gravity and Samsung Galaxy phones. They were both worth about $250.
There are currently no suspects, Parrott said.
