Group of 21-year-olds disturbs streets near ETHS
Three 21-year-old Evanston residents were charged with disobedience to police Sunday after causing several disturbances in the area near Evanston Township High School.
Police first encountered the three suspects, which were part of a larger group of approximately five men, walking down the middle of Lemar Avenue. They responded with profanities after Evanston Police Department officers ordered them to disperse, Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.
The group then moved to the 1500 block of Fowler Avenue. They walked onto the property of an unidentified resident and confronted him “in an aggressive manner,” challenging the homeowner to a fight, Parrott said.
The young men fled the scene once EPD officers arrived. Two 21-year-olds were arrested at 2320 Greenwood St., and a third was soon arrested nearby at 1420 Fowler Ave.
Rental car stolen from Davis Street parking garage
A silver 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe rental car, belonging to Hertz, was stolen Friday from a parking garage in the 800 block of Davis Street.
A female from New York rented the car and parked it in the garage Friday at approximately 9:30 a.m. She returned later that afternoon and the vehicle was missing.
“It’s being treated as a legitimate steal,” Parrott said.
The woman paid Hertz in full for the rental and still had possession of the car’s keys, Parrott added.
The case has been forwarded to EPD detectives.
