Police arrest woman in connection with battery
Evanston police arrested a Florida woman in connection with a battery Friday afternoon, according to an EPD news release.
Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 1600 block of Simpson Street and observed the 31-year-old striking another woman in the face, Cmdr. Jay Parrott said. A third woman tried to aid the attacked woman, and the attacker punched her. Police then took the attacker into custody.
Paramedics from the Evanston Fire Department arrived to treat the two women who were attacked.
The Florida woman, charged with two counts of battery, is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 9.
Burglar stole laptop and camera
A burglar broke into a house in the 1700 block of Oakton Street and took more than $500 worth of property Friday night, according to an EPD news release.
Residents of the house called police when they returned home Saturday and found the bedroom window unlocked, Parrott said.
The unidentified suspect stole a Sony laptop, a Nikon camera and jewelry.
Police found footprints that led from the burglarized house to the garage of another residence, which reported a missing Diamondback mountain bicycle.
EPD officers said they believe the two incidents were related.
