By claiming that he was enrolled in Kellogg School of Management and at least two other prestigious business programs, a former executive stole more than $900,000 in reimbursements, police said.
Christopher Brooke Beal, 47, served as executive director of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County since 1993. According to its website, SWANCC is a non-profit organization that manages northern Chicago suburban garbage, including the waste from the City of Evanston.
During his time as executive director, he allegedly filed false expense reports and claimed to register for graduate and management classes he never attended, according to a news release from Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.
Kellogg as well as the Harvard Kennedy School and The University of Chicago have no enrollment record of Beal attending their programs.
Beal is charged with theft of government property. If convicted, he could receive six to 30 years in prison. A court date is scheduled for April 13.
