$1500 stolen from on-campus Einstein Bros. Bagel
A person stole two bags containing $1500 from the Einstein Bros. Bagel inside the Pancoe-Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Life Sciences Pavilion, 2200 Campus Drive, police said.
A manager at Einstein’s reported locking the money and a deposit slip in the company safe Friday evening, University Police Deputy Chief Dan McAleer said. When she returned to work on Monday she found the safe door open and the contents of the safe empty.
Police are investigating, McAleer said.
Chicago man arrested after attempted drug deal
Police arrested a Chicago man Saturday evening for assault and robbery, Evanston Police Cmdr. Tom Guenther said.
On Feb. 5 Abashe Mathis, 3211 W. Douglas Ave., allegedly approached a man with two accomplices at approximately 5 p.m. and offered to sell the man marijuana, police said. When the man said he wasn’t interested, Mathis and his companions apparently stole $6 from his pocket and punched him in the face, Guenther said.
A court date is scheduled for Feb. 23.
Police arrest woman for shoplifting, battery at Jewel-Osco
Police arrested a woman for retail theft and battery at Jewel-Osco, 2485 Howard St., on Sunday, Guenther said.
Pamela Henry, 7439 N. Damen Ave., attempted to steal four packages of baby formula worth $108 at 6 p.m., police said. When confronted by security, she kicked a guard in the shin. Henry has previously been convicted of shoplifting, Guenther said.
A court date is scheduled for Feb. 23.
