Lyric Opera Lecture – Lohengrin

Where: Evanston Public Library

When: Saturday, February 5 2pm

Want to learn everything there is to know about an opera without actually seeing one? Then you should attend the Lyric Opera Lecture in the Evanston Public Library. Richard Wagner’s opera recounts the legend of the mysterious shining knight in armor, Lohengrin, who must save a beautiful noblewoman accused of murdering her brother. Plus, the plot has a twist. I won’t say too much but he was dead the whole time

State Ballet Theatre of Russia: Swan Lake

Where: Auditorium Theatre

When: Friday February 4 7:30 pm

This ballet probably won’t have Natalie Portman growing wings onstage after a dark and tragic transformation, but it will still be thrilling. Known for their flawless technique, the dancers of the State Ballet Theatre of Russia, are sure to make the conflict between the innocent Odette and her evil twin Odile both bold and riveting.

SASA Show: The Show Must Go On

Where: Cahn Auditorium

When: Saturday February 5 7pm

If you have a slight to moderate interest in Bollywood, Jay Sean or lots of dancing Indian people, come to SASA show. It’s sure to be full of at least most of those things. There will be performances by Brown Sugar, Anubhav, Deeva, Bhangra, Rum Lotus and many others. There’s also an after party so it will definitely be a good time.
