After 100 percent of Illinois precincts reported a 19,400-vote lead for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gov. Pat Quinn on Friday, Republican candidate Bill Brady conceded the race.
In a statement on his website, Brady expressed his thanks for supporters’ help and said he conceded “for the good of our state.”
“The election has ended, but my commitment to bringing people together, and to solving our fiscal crisis will continue without fail,” the statement said. “We cannot afford a return to politics as usual.”
Quinn, who replaced former Gov. Rod Blagojevich after Blagojevich was arrested on federal corruption charges, will serve his first full term as Governor of Illinois.
