Man arrested for trying to take iPod
Police arrested a man who attempted to rob someone on the streets of downtown Monday night, police said.
A man was walking down the 1700 block of Maple Street when Joe Norman approached and grabbed him, Evanston police Cmdr. Tom Guenther said. Norman asked for the man’s iPod before grabbing the man’s headphones from his ears, causing the headphones to snap into two pieces.
The man managed to get away from Norman and called the police, Guenther said. Norman was arrested and charged with robbery.
Wallet stolen while shopping
Someone stole a woman’s wallet while she was shopping for groceries, police said.
A woman was shopping at Whole Foods, 1111 Chicago Ave., Monday afternoon when someone stole her wallet from her purse, Guenther said. The woman told police she was not able to describe who took her wallet. The wallet’s contents include money, IDs and credit cards.
