Northwestern posters plastered the windows of Evanston shops Thursday as stores prepared for Paint Evanston Purple, an event in which customers who attend Saturday’s football game between NU and Central Michigan University will receive discounts.
“If you walk along Central Street in downtown Evanston, practically every business has a window with ‘Northwestern’ in it,” said Adelita Hernandez, a community information specialist for the city.
Tickets for the game, which begins at 11 a.m. at Ryan Field, 1501 Central St., will cost residents only $17, according to the City of Evanston website. Tickets typically cost non-students $50.
After the game, businesses will offer deals to patrons with ticket stubs. Many businesses , such as Jamba Juice, will provide a 10 percent discount, while others, such as the Ultimate Chicken Bar, will offer as much as 30 percent off.
