Woman kicks officer in knee
A woman tried to resist arrest from the Evanston Police Department on Monday by kicking an officer in the knee, police said.
Police witnessed Nina McGee walking away from a van they had been observing under suspicions of illegal narcotics possession on the 1900 block of Greenleaf Street, said Evanston police Cmdr. Tom Guenther.
Police approached McGee, and she became verbally aggressive when they asked her to stop walking, Guenther said. When police tried to stop her, she kicked an officer in the knee.
McGee was arrested and taken into custody. Following the incident, police approached the van and smelled unburned cannabis, which they found inside a clear, plastic baggie.
McGee was charged with resisting arrest, battery to a police officer and unlawful possession of an illegal substance.
Closet noises alarm resident
A resident of McManus Living-Learning Center, the graduate housing building on 1725 Orrington Ave., told police someone tried to enter a bedroom there Monday, University Police said.
When police responded to the scene, they found no one in the vicinity, said acting Cmdr. Ronald Godby. The room was next to a janitor’s closet, however, and police said they suspect it was simply an error.
