Metra service stopped for several hours Thursday evening when a train hit a pedestrian, according to the Metra Web site. The accident occurred on the North side of Chicago at around 5 p.m.
Outbound train service was stopped and resumed at around 7:15 p.m., running 110 minutes behind schedule, the Web site said.
Some students were impacted by the stoppage.
Weinberg sophomore Jon Christensen said he was taking the Metra train home from his Chicago Field Studies site, as he does every day. He was behind the train that hit the person, and was soon delayed.
“About 200 yards before the Ravenswood stop they stopped the train completely for about an hour and a half,” he said.
Eventually, Christensen’s train arrived at the Ravenswood stop, where he had to get off and board another train, which was only making limited stops. Luckily, he said, the Davis stop was among those that were made.
