Jason Alexander, who played George Costanza on Seinfeld, will speak at Northwestern on March 12, the Fiedler Hillel Center announced Sunday.
The event will take place at 8 p.m. in Ryan Family Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and go on sale March 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the Norris Box Office.
Alexander began his acting career on the stage, winning the 1989 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role in Jerome Robbins’ Broadway. He caught his break on the screen with a supporting role in Pretty Woman before being cast in Seinfeld. Although Alexander has not written his speech yet, Hillel President Scott Topal said it will likely focus on his career and the acting industry.
The event, which will be funded by the Associated Student Government activity fee, has been in the works for months.
“We have a speakers committee that works all year on planning on our events,” said Topal, a SESP junior. “They’ve been working on the event since spring.”
According to a release issued by Hillel, Entertainment Weekly named Costanza the third “best television sidekick of all time,” following only Robin and Tonto.
