This week you’re not going to find anything too controversial in The Weekly (sorry): no sex, no drugs and no eating disorders. What you will find, though, is a series of colorful reads about all things art and culture. Our cover story, penned by Assistant Editor Sara Peck, is a look inside the Von Orthal Puppets studio, where creative individuals of all ages can learn the basics of puppet construction and manipulation in various classes and workshops. The studio is also responsible for a handful of touring shows featuring its own designs. Cynthia Von Orthal, the artistic director has designed, performed and directed for both the screen and the stage. Elsewhere in this issue you’ll find a Culture Feature about Pitchfork, the only online stop for indie music enthusiasts; a Behind The Scenes look at Temporary Services, a group of artists teaching a class at NU this quarter called “Everybody Moves Against Control;” a profile of former Medill student Steve Albini who heads up the legendary Electrical Audio, a recording studio downtown; a Letter From Buenos Aires, Argentina; and a What If that explains how students handle classes in Evanston while also working for theater companies in Chicago.
