The Associated Collegiate Press on Sunday named The Daily a winner of this year’s Newspaper Pacemaker awards, the highest award in college journalism.
The Daily was one of nine winners in the four-year daily newspaper category. It last won the Pacemaker in 2005.
Three Big Ten newspapers – the Indiana Daily Student, The Daily Iowan and The (Michigan) State News – also received Pacemakers.
Judges select Newspaper Pacemakers based on criteria that include content, quality of writing, in-depth reporting, design and photography, according to the ACP’s Web site.
Campus online publication North by Northwestern received an Online Pacemaker for the first time in the magazine/broadcast/online-only publications category.
The criteria for the award were design, ease of navigation, writing and editing, graphics and interactivity, according to the Web site.
