Starting in Sept. 2008, Northwestern will offer, for the first time, a Master of Fine Arts program for students who write poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.
A part-time, evening MFA program will allow students to write a longer thesis, closer to book length, than the part-time MA program. Both Northwestern’s MFA and MA programs are offered by the School of Continuing Studies.
Students will work with members of Northwestern’s renowned writing faculty. Faculty members include Whiting Award-winning poet John Keene, MacArthur “genius” award winners Aleksandar Hemon and Stuart Dybek, and Alex Kotlowitz, whose book “There Are No Children Here” was awarded the New York Public Library distinction as one of the 150 most important books of the 20th century.
