Rogers House, one of Northwestern’s residence halls, will not house any residents for the 2008-09 academic year due to renovations, said Garth Miller, director of housing and food services.
Rogers House is a women-only dorm that can accommodate up to 50 residents, said Mark D’Arienzo, associate director of university housing.
Because Rogers House is an older building, Miller said officials would like to make some improvements.
“There are a wide range of issues that we want to address,” he said. “At this point we don’t have any firm plans, but we’re waiting to hear back from facilities management.”
Officials do not expect the temporary closing to cause housing shortages for returning upperclassmen and incoming freshmen next fall, even with a potentially larger freshman class than in previous years.
“We fully anticipate being able to accommodate anyone who wishes to live in university housing,” Miller said.
