After running on a whim to become the ASG senator for the Public Affairs, Shepard and Willard residential colleges in the fall of his freshman year, Vikram Karandikar said he can’t see himself doing anything other than ASG work for another year.
Now a member of Associated Student Government Executive Committee, Karandikar is running unopposed for executive vice president in Tuesday’s election. He lists many goals in his platform, including collaboration among student groups and increased funding for B-status groups.
The Executive Committee is currently at an “interesting crossroads” in terms of experience, the McCormick sophomore said.
“Upperclassmen are graduating and there’s an influx of great, new, energetic people,” Karandikar said. “So I think that at this point, it’s very important to elect someone who has enough experience to guide the new ideas brought forth and to make changes to improve the committee and improve the student group experience on campus.”
Though Karandikar is running unopposed, he has campaigned actively throughout the week to publicize his platform, said Alice Weinert, his campaign manager.
“Vikram really hopes that people are paying attention to the campaign so that they know that he has great ideas and experience,” the Communication sophomore said. “He really wants the student body behind him on Tuesday.”
