Tickets for Niteskool’s Jan. 25 winter show, featuring DJ Girl Talk, go on sale today at the Norris University Center Box Office. The Pittsburgh-based DJ is best known for putting on high-energy shows.
Girl Talk combines music from artists in different genres, such as clips from Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” and music from rapper Notorious B.I.G., to create unexpected rhythms.
“We saw what kind of show he put on and could really imagine him and students responding well,” Niteskool President Jeff GoodSmith said. “It’s all the music everyone’s heard, but in a totally new way.”
The concert marks the first time that Niteskool has worked with A&O Productions. During the school year, Niteskool includes NU students in filming music videos and promoting music acts.
Indie band Butterfly Assassins and NU student hip-hop band The Hustle Group will open the concert, GoodSmith said.
“Girl Talk is definitely the kind of artist that Niteskool tries to target – just getting their start up but rising in stock in terms of their popularity,” he said. “Girl Talk’s becoming a bigger presence culturally and on campus.”
Tickets are $5. Limit two per WildCARD.
