Event Production Manager Jonathan Lewis announced his plans to leave Northwestern University to pursue other opportunities after working at Norris University Center for almost five years. Lewis said he worked with about 75 student employees each day to make sure Norris activities and theater productions moved smoothly.
“Northwestern gave me so much as an undergraduate with my friends and my career,” he said. “The opportunity to give back to the institution was the least I could do.”
Events Planning Manager Melinda Weaver said she will miss Lewis’ leadership, sense of humor and relationships with co-workers and friends.
“He has a lot of class and style to him,” Weaver said.
Lewis said he looked forward to interacting with student employees.
“It’s so exciting to see really fantastic people grow up and figure out careers and their lives,” he said. Lewis was named co-chair of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) Support Network. He also served as a member of the Student Affairs Staff Development Committee and a mediator on the conciliation board of the University Hearing and Appeals System. Lewis started this week as assistant director for two of the University of Chicago’s four student unions.
