Since starting at NU in June 2005, Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life Erin Huffman oversaw the Interfraternity Council, Pan-Hellenic Association, Multicultural Greek Council and the Emerging Leaders Program. She has also worked with house directors, chapter advisers and honorary organizations.
Huffman said she enjoyed advising Bridging the Gap, a diversity program from a Greek Leadership Retreat in spring 2006. This organization, which will be open to non-Greek students in the fall, meets to talk about race relations within the NU community.
“It’s unusual to see a group of students want to talk about race, but this group wants race relations to improve,” she said.
Huffman also served on the LGBT Support Network and coordinated the Safe Space registration process for individuals who wanted to participate in that training.
Huffman said she will miss NU’s students and staff.
“I really enjoyed getting to work with some phenomenal students and seeing them work toward their visions,” she said. “Some have taken on significant issues, and it’s been a pleasure to watch them come to life.”
Huffman will return home to Ohio and continue her work with college students.
