Starting today, street cleaning will take place on Evanston residential streets during the day, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The city previously had cleaned the streets overnight.
Downtown Evanston and other business districts in the city will continue to be swept in the early morning, said Glenn Crabtree, a street department supervisor.
“There were some customers who didn’t appreciate the noise at night,” Crabtree said.
Crabtree said the move to the daytime also should save the city money paid in overtime costs.
