Grey’s AnatomyThursday, 8 p.m. (ABC)
Enough of the reruns! A new episode of Grey’s Anatomy is finally here. Before Winter Break, writer Chandra Wilson gave her viewers a few things to nibble on: Izzy (Katherine Heigl) is back to work at Seattle Grace Hospital but is on probation, and Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Burke (Isaiah Washington) are on thin ice because she told his secret to the chief behind Burke’s back.
But the most important reason to watch? Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) are back together. Even if you’re against the “Der-Mer” match, this new episode will rekindle your love for the hospital drama. Seriously!
24Sunday/Monday, 7 p.m. (Fox)
If you’re in any Jack Bauer Facebook group – or just wish you were – 24’s two two-hour sixth season openers are mandatory. The last season left off with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) trying to piece together Day Five’s events and getting turned over to the Chinese government – a story development that had its roots way back in Day Four.
Monday night’s episode will start Day Six with terrorist attacks stirring the nation and brand-new President Wayne Palmer (D.B. Woodside), brother of David. Jack is also being tortured by the Chinese, but he will, of course, escape. “(Day Six is) much more about him saving his own ass,” Sutherland says.
Deal or No DealWednesday, 8 p.m. (NBC)
Because it’s a fairly dry Wednesday night (do we really need to watch another season of American Idol?), you can watch the relatively new game show Deal or No Deal. It’s like The Price is Right, with its screaming contestants and overly excited, live audiences.
In the game, the contestant chooses one of 26 suitcases, each containing an amount ranging from $0.01 to $1 million. They then find out the dollar amounts of each of the other suitcases and are offered a “deal” for their suitcase after each other suitcase’s amount is revealed. They either take the deal or hope for a top-money suitcase. Confusing? It’ll all make sense when host Howie Mandel asks, “Deal or no deal?”
