Spelling shines in ‘So NoTORIous’

Self-referential comedy is best left to the likes of Seinfeld, the short-lived The Comeback and, apparently, 90210 has-been Tori Spelling. Her new faux reality television series, So noTORIous, revolves around Spelling – who plays herself – and the various sitcom-like situations she gets herself into.

She knowingly takes jabs at herself, all while maintaining her sunshine smile and perky blonde cheer. It’s a mix that could’ve flopped but works because Spelling knows how to make fun of herself and have fun at the same time.

In the episode “Charitable,” Tori decides to become a “big sister” for a disadvantaged girl. Why? Because she thinks it’ll be rewarding to help a young girl – and she’d also love to take the girl shopping.
