Head Football Coach Randy Walker and Northwestern have reached an agreement on a contract extension that would keep Walker at the school through 2011, the Chicago Tribune reported in its Sunday edition.
The Tribune did not reveal its source, and no official announcement has been made.
Athletic Director Mark Murphy told The Daily Sunday that an announcement will be made regarding Walker “very soon, in the next day or two.”
Walker left his alma mater, Miami University of Ohio, after the 1998 season to come to NU.
He has compiled a 37-46 record in Evanston, with three bowl appearances in seven seasons, including last year’s appearance at the Sun Bowl
Before Walker, NU only competed in three bowl games in school history.
In the last two years, Walker’s teams have won 13 games, which is three more than former NU and current Arizona Cardinals coach Dennis Green achieved in his five years at the school.
