Senators might distribute an additional $2,000 in supplemental funding at tonight’s Associated Student Government Senate meeting, after a subtraction mistake left them with more money than they thought they had.
At the end of last week’s meeting, A&O Productions received the $12,817 that senators believed they had left in the pool. Dan Broadwell, speaker of the Senate, later sent an e-mail to senators stating that they can motion to give the extra $2,000 to a student group. Any money not given to a group is carried over to spring funding.
Senators also will vote on two bills tonight. One bill encourages Facilities Management to put more left-handed desks in Harris 107. The other asks the Norris Bookstore to provide low-cost plastic sleeves for attaching WildCARDS to keychains.
Senators will hear a new bill from members of the Student Activities Finance Board and the Executive Committee proposing research into ways to improve funding options for B- and T-status student groups, which currently don’t receive SAFB funding. The bill also calls for looking into raising the $120 Student Activities Fee tacked onto each student’s tuition.
