Time: 2:30 p.m.
Place: Tuscaloosa , Ala.
TV: CBS
Line: Louisiana St. by 3
Records: Louisiana St. 7-1, Alabama 9-0
Why to watch: If Alabama wants to keep its perfect season alive, it will have to find a way to put up some points. The offense has scored one touchdown in the last three games in the absence of star receiver Tyrone Prothro. Enter the Tigers, who have held opponents to an average of 8.3 points during its current six-game winning streak. The Crimson Tide are the only unbeaten team in the Southeastern Conference and can eliminate the Tigers from the conference title chase with a victory.
No. 12 Florida at South Carolina
Time: 11:30 a.m.
Place: Columbia, S.C.
TV: ESPN Gameplan
Line: Florida by 4
Records: Florida 7-2, South Carolina 6-3
Why to watch: Steve Spurrier coached the Gators to 11 straight bowl games before bolting for the NFL. Now his red-hot Gamecocks will try to end his former team’s hopes for an SEC East title. South Carolina can set a school record with its fifth straight conference win. Florida has won the last 14 games in the series, including a 10-0 run under Spurrier. The Gators survived a scare last week with a double-overtime victory against Vanderbilt.
No. 15 Auburn at No. 9 Georgia
Time: 6:45 p.m.
Place: Athens, Ga.
TV: ESPN
Line: Georgia by 3
Records: Auburn 7-2, Georgia 7-1
Why to watch: Georgia quarterback D.J. Shockley had to watch from the sidelines as his team suffered its first loss of the season Oct. 29 against Florida. With his expected return from a knee injury, Shockley can lead the Bulldogs to the SEC championship game with wins in the next two weeks. Auburn stands in the way. The Tigers have won nine of their last 10 games at Sanford Stadium.
No. 1 Southern California at California
Time: 2:30 p.m.
Place: Berkeley, Calif.
TV: ABC
Line: Southern Cal. by 19
Records: Southern Cal. 9-0, California 6-3
Why to watch: The Trojans have not lost in two years. The last team to beat college football’s juggernaut? The Golden Bears pulled off a triple-overtime shocker in 2003. Last year, the Trojans needed a defensive stand on first and goal in the final two minutes to beat the Bears. Cal, which has dropped three of its last four games, might have trouble keeping up this time. The Trojans will go for their 22nd straight conference victory, which would match the Bears’ record set in 1950.
