Walking up the 18th fairway at The Glen Club on Monday, Chris Wilson approached his tee shot situated perfectly in the short grass. Already 1-under par in his second round of the Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge, Wilson was 255 yards out over water on the par-5 home hole, which would lead most golfers to lay up.
But standing next to Wilson’s ball was Northwestern coach Pat Goss, who informed the sophomore that two of his teammates were 3-over par in the round. The Wildcats needed to get a few shots back to stay near the top of the leaderboard heading into Tuesday’s final round, in which NU charged to the front to take home team and individual championships.
