After considering leaving Northwestern to play professionally in the NBA or in Europe, junior forward Vedran Vukusic said Tuesday he will return to Northwestern next year for his fifth season.
“I am for sure staying,” he said. “People say I should go to the NBA and blah, blah, blah, but I’m not ready.
“I think I have to work hard and make my chances better than they are now.”
Vukusic, a third-team All-Big Ten honoree, led the Wildcats this season with 16.8 points per game.
He also had 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 35 minutes per game.
Vukusic is eligible for a fifth season because he redshirted his sophomore year after injuring his right shoulder in an exhibition game.
During his junior season, Vukusic said he’d most likely return to school. But he recently made his choice final.
“That’s my definite decision,” he said.
