Jerome Summers’ grandfather came to Evanston in 1897. More than 100 years later, Summers wants to serve the community that is still home to most of his family.
“I’ve probably got 10 sets of relatives within 10 blocks,” Summers said. “My family’s been serving this community for a long time. So, honestly, I avoided it like the plague my whole life.”
Nine years ago, when Summers moved back to town to care for his parents, he began seeing things differently.
