Student Escort Service officials, who said they are facing a shortage of drivers, sought additional drivers in a universitywide e-mail sent Tuesday morning.
Currently, the service — which takes calls to pick up and drop off Northwestern students between 9 p.m. and 2:30 a.m., seven days a week — employs a staff of 30 drivers. Student Escort Service administrator Andrew Hinderaker said he is searching for 10 more drivers.
Hinderaker was hesitant to qualify the need for drivers as a “shortage,” but he admitted the service recently has been forced to rely on Facilities Management. The university personnel drive students around campus in their service mini-vans —
