Candice Tse seems to have never met an Asian generalization she didn’t like — or find absolutely hilarious. “The Asians like to soup up their cars,” the Communication sophomore says with a grin. “The Asians are very condensed.” “Asians like to order by number.”
Here’s another one. If Candice and her friends Weinberg sophomore Sarah Song and McCormick sophomore Ness Fajardo are at all representative, the Asians are also hungry — which is why the three are spending their Friday afternoon giving me a whirlwind tour of Argyle, a North Side enclave of all things Asian. Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai restaurants are all represented, and local grocery stores also contain Japanese and Filipino items.
Sarah, Ness and Candice have been frequenting Argyle for a taste of home as long as they’ve gone to Northwestern — or longer, in Sarah’s case, since she grew up in Skokie. All three are fans of Pho H
