Thousands of students are expected to head to Patten Gym on Thursday for some pre-weekend relaxation and the chance to win a free vacation.
“(Suitcase Party) is a unique, exciting party where everyone wins — both those that enter the raffle for prizes and our local charity,” said Sarah Jo Mayson, a Suitcase Party committee co-chairwoman and Weinberg sophomore.
Proceeds from this year’s charity bash will go to Evanston Youth Organizations Umbrella, a youth services agency. In the nine years since it was formed, Suitcase Party has raised more than $120,000 exclusively for local charities.
Everyone who buys a ticket — $7 in advance and $9 at the door — is entered in a raffle. The winners enter an on-stage contest to compete for a trip to New York, Los Angeles, Orlando, Fla., or Las Vegas.
