Police at the March 10 abortion demonstration on campus arresteda Wilmette man who said he thought he was targeted unfairly.

Scott Klocksin, 20, who with about 75 students and communitymembers was protesting a demonstration by the Pro-Life ActionLeague, was arrested and ticketed by Evanston police after thegroups confronted each other near The Arch.

Klocksin, who attended the protest with the RevolutionaryCommunist Youth Brigade, said a member of the Pro-Life ActionLeague who was taking pictures backed up into a large abortionrights banner and tore it in half, Klocksin said.

“After that, I did proceed to disrupt his ability to takepictures, by holding up a sign in front of the man’s camera lens,”he said.

Officers then approached him, asked him for identification andarrested him.

Klocksin said he believed the police unjustly targeted him forbeing “vociferous” and that “there was no violence or threat ofviolence coming from either side,” he said.

Police ticketed Klocksin for blocking the sidewalk, said DeputyChief Michael Perry of Evanston Police Department. Klocksin can paya fine or go to an April 6 hearing at the Evanston Civic Center,2100 Ridge Ave. He said he will go to the hearing and bringsupporters.
