The Northwestern baseball team better pack its boots — the Wildcats are going to the swamp.
NU (2-3-1) will kick off a three-game series against Florida (9-3) on Saturday down in Gainesville, Fla. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Perry Field. The series continues with contests on Sunday and Monday.
The Cats haven’t fared too well so far in its nonconference schedule, picking up a win, a loss and a tie last weekend in Albuquerque, N.M. The weekend before, the Cats dropped two of three in Phoenix.
Utility sophomore Dan Brauer leads NU, having earned this week’s Big Ten Pitcher of the Week award in addition to boasting a .455 batting average. Senior Jason Krynski’s bat is also on fire — he has a .417 batting average.
The Gators, on the other hand, have seen more success in their nonconference schedule. Florida notched 15 hits in its 9-4 thrashing of Michigan on Tuesday.
