The Northwestern men’s golf team remained in 14th place Monday at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate tournament, firing a 9-over-par round of 297. The round was the 8th-best performance of the day among the 18 squads in the field and a 22-stroke improvement from the Wildcats’ Sunday performance. NU is 39 strokes behind leader South Carolina.
Tom Johnson followed up his 2-over 74 with a 73. Johnson is in 14th — five off the lead.
Junior Dillon Dougherty fired the Cats’ best round of the day, an even-par 72.
