Purdue quarterback Kyle Orton had his biggest game of the season Saturday, completing 38-of-55 passes for 411 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. As it turned out, anything less might not have been enough.
An 18-yard field goal by Ben Jones with three seconds left gave No. 10 Purdue (6-1, 3-0 Big Ten) a 26-23 victory over No. 20 Wisconsin (6-2, 3-1). Jones had four field goals on the day, but it was the Boilermakers’ surprisingly dynamic passing attack that led the way.
“It felt like a new offense,” said junior wide receiver Taylor Stubblefied, who combined with senior John Standeford for 30 receptions and 314 yards. “We’ve been having success running the ball. Today it became the receivers’ turn, and we delivered.”
