Evanston man charged with sexually abusing 13-year-old

An Evanston man was arrested Friday night in connection with the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl, police said.

Benson T. Saintil, 19, of the 1300 block of Brummel Avenue, was charged with three felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Saintil admitted to having sex with the girl, said Cmdr. Michael Perry of Evanston Police Department. The victim told police she had consensual sex with Saintil at his residence on three separate occasions, in September 2002, October 2002 and January 2003, said Perry.

The victim told police that Saintil suggested filming the January incident and she was not sure if he followed her request to turn off his video camera, Perry said.

“Through further investigation there was no proof of filming,” Perry said.

When the girl told her mother about the incidents, the mother brought the girl to EPD on May 1, almost five months after the last incident.

Police arrested Saintil May 2 after he admitted during questioning that he had consensual sex with the girl. He is being held on $5,000 bond at Cook County Jail in Chicago. Saintil is scheduled to appear May 28 at Circuit Court in Skokie.
