The Northwestern football team begins its preparation for the 2003 season today, as the Wildcats hit the gridiron for the first time after finishing last season with a 3-9 record.
Coach Randy Walker will hold 14 practices, culminating in the annual Purple-White scrimmage on April 26.
The young NU squad returns most of its unit a year older and wiser. The Cats lose only three starters on offense and two on defense.
Linebacker Pat Durr will not return — at least not yet. The senior, who missed almost all fall with a knee injury, won’t take the field this spring.
