Making Breeders albums has never been easy for Kim Deal. The band’s first release, Pod, was recorded as a side project during the notoriously tumultuous last days of the Pixies. After an internal tumult and the departure of Throwing Muses’ Tanya Donelly, the band put out the wonderful, and somehow still commercially successful, Last Splash but collapsed immediately afterward under the weight of Kim’s twin sister Kelley Deal’s burgeoning drug problem.
In 1999, six years after the release of Last Splash, Kim Deal started to record Title TK without a band in Texas. She wrote and played everything herself, recording three of the songs that would eventually end up on the album.
Deal then got her sister back into the fray and recruited three members of the Los Angeles
