A pregnant woman was attacked Saturday night in a robbery on the 1800 block of Dodge Avenue in Evanston, police said.
The victim told police that her assailant had followed her for several blocks into an alley before he struck her in the face, chest and back at 8:15 p.m., said Lt. Joe Bellino of the Evanston Police Department.
The man took a gold ring with sapphires and diamonds, a calling card and a credit card from the victim, Bellino said.
The victim was found in the alley by a citizen, who then notified police, Bellino said. The victim, who was 7 1/2 months pregnant, was taken to Evanston Hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries and held for observation, he said.
Police were still investigating Monday.
ETHS student charged in sexual abuse of 15-year-old
An Evanston Township High School student was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexual abuse, police said.
Roman Walker, 18, of the 4800 block of Conrad in Skokie, was charged with criminal sexual abuse against a juvenile, said Lt. Joe Bellino of the Evanston Police Department.
The 15-year-old victim contacted police Wednesday and told them she was sexually assaulted by an acquaintance at her Evanston residence at 5 p.m. Dec. 12, Bellino said.
The man was arrested at 8 p.m. and questioned by police at EPD, 1454 Elmwood Ave., Bellino said.
Walker is scheduled to appear March 27 at Circuit Court in Skokie.
Chicago man charged with cannabis, cocaine possession
A Chicago man was arrested Thursday after police found bags of cannabis and cocaine in his clothing, police said.
Erregragui Abdelhadi, 32, of the 1300 block of West Howard Street, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of a controlled substance at 7:54 p.m. at the 1800 block of Brown Avenue, said Lt. Joe Bellino of the Evanston Police Department.
The man was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over by police for a traffic violation, Bellino said. Patrol officers took the man into custody after they smelled a strong odor of cannabis coming from the man. A search of his clothing revealed two small plastic bags, each containing 1.5 grams of cannabis, and two small bags containing 1.25 grams of cocaine.
Abdelhadi is scheduled to appear March 11 at Circuit Court in Skokie.
