The Evanston/Skokie School District 65 board of education will meet tonight to discuss proposed summer education projects and renew multiple annual contracts.

The board will discuss a modified contract for child care with the Child Care Network of Evanston that will include a monetary change, said board member Mary Erickson. The contract, which Erickson said is reviewed annually, provides subsidized preschool programs for Evanston children.

The board also will discuss bid awards for:

_Ѣ District operations, including: instructional art paper, paper towels and toilet tissue; paving work at Nichols Middle School; roof repairs at Lincoln and Timber Ridge schools; and countertop replacement work at Park School.

_Ѣ Referendum projects, including: masonry repairs at Lincoln, Kingsley, Lincolnwood and Oakton schools; elevator replacement and repairs at King Lab, Haven and Nichols schools; playgrounds at Orrington and Park schools; water pipe replacement at Chute and Oakton schools; and mechanical work on Chute’s air conditioning system.

“We’re making progress on the referendum projects,” Erickson said.

The agenda for Monday’s meeting is not set to include discussion of the district’s proposed administrative building, which is scheduled for construction on district-owned land north of King Lab School, 2424 Lake St. But Erickson said the issue may be addressed during public comment at the end of the meeting.

Michael Green of the Martin Luther King Association was chosen Sunday night to speak at the meeting.

Evanston City Council on April 16 approved an amendment to a zoning ordinance that will allow the district to construct administrative offices in residentially zoned areas. The amendment has drawn protest from several Evanston groups, including the Martin Luther King Neighborhood Association and the local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

The D65 board will meet at 8:30 p.m. tonight at King Lab School’s library.
